- 1. Consider open plan: Open plan not only gives you a light and airy office to work in but it creates more efficient lines of communication between employees and a more productive atmosphere.
- 2. Be ergonomically efficient: Ergonomics is about making dimensions work for the average human being. Heights of desks and shelves, spaces between furniture. Get it right and you have healthier, fitter employees.
- 3. Have good storage: Clutter around an office means a cluttered mind. Good, effective storage makes for a much more organise and efficient, office.
- 4. Limit noise: Keep noisy office equipment away from walls. Use carpet or office dividers to dampen the noise and reduce distraction.
- 5. Lighten up: Good lighting is essential for good working. Used effectively it can also create the appropriate ambiance for the space: welcoming, relaxing and enjoyable.
- 6. Be window aware: Maximise the use of light, fresh air and the view. A stuffy dark office is not good. A glimpse of the world outside makes for a happier working environment.
- 7. Get air conditioning: Effective air conditioning creates a more consistent, comfortable and productive environment for your employees.
- 8. Stay hydrated: Your brain is approximately 83% water. Dehydration inhibits concentration so keep your employees brains topped up by installing a water cooler.
- 9. No loose leads: Use a cable tidy to tie up loose leads. They make the place look better as well as safe.
- 10. Reflect your brand: A good office and all of its equipment, says a lot about your organisation, staff and way of working. It expresses who you are. Make your office project your brand image.
