Millennium Library & The Forum Trust

The Forum
Challenge: To replace 1800m² of existing flooring in the Millennium Library and surrounding walkways with the least amount of disruption possible as the library remains opens for business.

Sounds impossible – not for Hemera.

We at Hemera thrive on exciting and unusual projects, and Norfolk Property Services along with The Forum Trust, certainly threw us a curved ball when they awarded us the opportunity to replace the flooring on the entire second floor of the busiest library in the country.

So how did we do it?

A project of this size always requires precise planning and careful organisation. Many site visits were undertaken to ensure there were no ‘nasty surprises’ and that we were fully prepared for the complexities of the task ahead.

Taking a section at time, we were able to clear the area of work, replace the existing floor finishes and then restore the section back to its original layout. It was meticulous work which relied heavily our ability to work as team.

Working closely with the library we were able to ensure that with the minimum amount of disruption the majority of books and resource materials were kept readily available for public use and returned to their original position intact.
